The year 2008 was an important milestone for the BGS as we celebrated our 50^th Anniversary. From a small informal group of graduates from British universities who started meeting in Athens in 1958, the Society has grown and developed over these past 50 years. It has a rich history and has maintained a strong and active presence in Greek life throughout all the years of educational, social, economical and political change.

•  “New Year 50^th Anniversary Reception” in Thessaloniki – BGS Northern Greece Branch

• “Narrating Heroic Deeds” Art Exhibition by the painter and BGS member Yannis Papagiannis at “Nees Morfes” gallery

• Lecture by Professor Theodore Scaltsas, director of the “Archelogos Projects”, organised by the Edinburgh University Greek Alumni Association in collaboration with ELIAMEP and supported by the BGS

• “Seminar on Sustainable Development” at the British Ambassador’s Residence, organised by the British Embassy and supported by the BGS. The entire proceedings were shown  live via a TV feed with a link from the BGS website

• “Picasso, Suite 347” Exhibition of Engravings, private viewing and reception in Thessaloniki – BGS Northern Greece Branch

• “Spring Music Festival” - a series of 6 concerts (from 26 March up to 7 May)  organised under the artistic direction of  BGS member Christina Antoniadou at St Paul’s Anglican Church and with the support of the BGS

• “City University Alumni Reception” at the Athens Hilton supported  by the BGS

• “Kingston University Alumni Annual Reception” in Athens supported  by the BGS

• “Midsummer Garden Party” to celebrate the 50^th Anniversary of the BGS at the British Embassy Residence - see PHOTO GALLERY
