Message by the British Ambassador Kate Smith CMG
I am delighted to be back in Greece after over 25 years and to find the BGS still thriving. It’s clear to me already, after less than three months as Ambassador, that education is a cornerstone of the relationship between our two countries. All the time here I meet outstanding individuals, leaders in their chosen field, whose lives have been transformed by the UK university education they have received – and these are just a few of the hundreds of thousands of Greeks who have made the decision to study in Britain. That choice forms the beginning of strong, lasting bonds between the individual and the UK, and collectively those bonds sustain and underpin our common values and interests. This will not change with Brexit. Britain values very highly the contribution of Greeks who live and work and study in the UK, and you know it better than most.
I look forward to meeting and working together with you in the future to promote those ties and the opportunities a UK higher education offers to Greeks, across all fields of study and sectors.
